Start with the outcome
Before adding a node, describe the behavior in a single sentence: when the player interacts with an object, change something in the world. A clear outcome helps you decide what data and events the object needs.
Separate execution from data
Read execution wires as the order of operations. Read data wires as the values passed into those operations. Trace a graph from its event instead of trying to understand every node at once.
Build the smallest working loop
Create a small test level and focus on one interactive object. Trigger the behavior, observe the result, and change one thing at a time. Once the interaction works, give variables and functions names that explain their purpose.
Keep a useful debugging trail
When a result is unexpected, verify that the event runs, inspect the values that drive the decision, and confirm that the intended object receives the change. Test the complete interaction again after each change.
